FAQ
45mins- 1 hour. This really depends on the style of makeup wanted.
Makeup lessons take 1.5 hours for a natural day look, 2 hours for a day to evening look, 3 hours for a makeup and hair lesson, or 4 hours for the ultimate makeup lesson (see the makeup lessons page for more info. Please allow an extra 10 mins for us to set up if we are coming to you.
You will need to have a chair (office/dining chair is fine), a cleared table or bench space. If possible, have fresh cleansed skin so we can get right into the makeup application. Feel free to bring a picture of a makeup style that you like if you have a certain look that you are after. If you are not sure of what you want, then we can discuss a look that will work for you before we start.
We use a variety of high end makeup brands, however all of our artists have their own favourite products/ brands that they carry and use. Because of this, each artist’s kit will be different. We use a range of hair products (Kevin Murphy, Wella, Sebastian, Swartzkoft to name a few). We like to use salon quality hair products to give a professional finish to hair.
Your makeup will last all day and night providing you look after it. We take a lot of care to prep and prime the skin. We use high end makeup products which are great for staying in place. What we suggest is to have a powder and lippy that you carry in your purse. This is so that you can blot down any shine, and reapply lippy when needed for touch-ups throughout the day/night.
We suggest to have you own powder and lippy to carry with you for touch-ups. If it is your wedding day, then have someone hold a little purse with a few touch up items for you. Most brides get emotional on their big day so we suggest to have a few tissues, cotton buds, concealer, powder and lippy handy just in case of tears. We do use smudge proof products and waterproof mascara, but its good to have them there just in case.
Serenity will only travel for weddings and photoshoots, so if you are not coming to her studio, and have booked one of our mobile artists, then there is a travel fee for this. This covers their travel expenses and time.
We will travel most places if our time/travel is paid for. Some locations where we need to drive over 2 hours (usually for weddings), will require an overnight stay the night before your event.
Please enquire to check if we are available to travel to you.
Yes, it is best to have a trial before your big day. It is one of the most important days of your life and you need to have everything perfect. It will be one less thing to stress about on your wedding day because you will know what to expect. We will discuss everything, and then do a makeup and/ or hair trial to get the look that you are after. We suggest to have a couple of pictures of a look that you like with you so we know the kind of look you feel comfortable with on the big day. If you would like a friend to join you, that’s fine, however more then one person attending a trial is not recommended as this can confuse your makeup vision. Contact us to find out more.
It’s up to you when you would like to book your trial with us, however it is best to have your wedding trial 2 to 3 months in advance of your big day. This way, your final look will be fresh in your mind and it then it will be one less thing to worry about closer to the time!
